Rheumatology
Rheumatology is a sub-specialty in internal medicine, devoted to diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who specialize in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists deal mainly with clinical problems involving joints, soft tissues, autoimmune diseases, vasculitis, and heritable connective tissue disorders. Many of these diseases are now known to be disorders of the immune system. Rheumatology is increasingly the study of immunology.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation
Physical medicine and rehabilitation also aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. A physician having completed training in this field is referred to as a physiatrist. Unlike other medical specialties that focus on a medical “cure,” the goals of the physiatrist are to maximize patients’ independence in activities of daily living and improve quality of life.

Basic Science of Bone & Cartilage Metabolism
Bone density is actually Higher rather than Lower in osteoarthritis. Low bone density is the telltale sign of osteoporosis, a skeletal disorder characterized by weakened bones due to excessive loss of bone mass. Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, is characterized by increased bone density and osteophytes in conjunction with articular cartilage degeneration. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are two different diseases with opposite bone density problems Osteoarthritis, also known as wear and tear arthritis, is a progressive disease of the joints. With osteoarthritis, the articular cartilage that covers the ends of bones in the joints gradually wears away the disorder most commonly affects joints in hands, knees, hips and spine. Osteoarthritis often gradually worsens, and no cure exists. Where there was once smooth articular cartilage that made the bones move easily against each other when the joint bent and straightened, there is now a frayed, rough surface.

Fractures
A fracture is the medical term for a broken bone. Fractures are common; the average person has two during a lifetime. They occur when the physical force exerted on the bone is stronger than the bone itself. Your risk of fracture depends, in part, on your age. Broken bones are very common in childhood, although children's fractures are generally less complicated than fractures in adults. As you age, your bones become more brittle and you are more likely to suffer fractures from falls that would not occur when you were young. There are many types of fractures, but the main categories are displaced, non-displaced, open, and closed. Displaced and non-displaced fractures refer to the way the bone breaks.

Pediatric orthopedics
Pediatric Orthopaedics (Child Orthopaedics) are specialized in traumatic deformities of the spine, trigger thumb, nursemaid’s elbow, club feet, bone fractures and extremities in children and young adults. Pediatric orthopedic surgeons are widely recognized both regionally and nationally for innovative surgical treatments, as well as conservative approaches to a wide variety of orthopedic problems. Among the most-common conditions are:
Spinal deformities such as scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, and spinal trauma Pediatric and adolescent sports injuries. Foot and hip development problems such as club foot and hip dysplasia, Lower extremity deformities such as knock knees, bowleggedness, and rotational problems, Upper extremity deformities, whether congenital or developmental, Leg length discrepancy, Benign and malignant tumors, Fractures and other trauma due to Sports
Cerebral palsy, Limb salvage, Radiofrequency ablation of osteoid osteomas
Many common pediatric orthopedic conditions can be managed by the physician who has a knowledge of the natural history of these conditions. An accurate diagnosis is necessary to provide proper treatment, give advice to patients, or make referrals to the proper specialist. This article discusses some of the more common orthopedic problems often encountered by primary care physicians

Spine
Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal cord in the neck (cervical spine) or the spinal nerve roots in the lower back (lumbar spine) are compressed. Symptoms of lumbar stenosis often include leg pain (sciatica) and leg tingling, weakness, or numbness. Arm pain is a typical symptom of cervical spinal stenosis. For cervical spinal stenosis with myelopathy, difficulty with coordination often occurs. Stenosis treatment may include non-surgical options (exercise, anti-inflammatory medication, epidural injections, and activity modification) or back surgery.

Diagnostic & Imaging
Medical imaging is the technique and process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention. Medical imaging seeks to reveal internal structures hidden by the skin and bones, as well as to diagnose and treat disease. Medical imaging such as x-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI and nuclear medicine establishes a database of normal anatomy and physiology to make it possible to identify abnormalities. Although imaging of removed organs and tissues can be performed for medical reasons, such procedures are usually considered part of pathology instead of medical imaging. In knee surgery also medical imaging plays an important role.

There are many conditions that affect our body's musculoskeletal system, that require clinical care by a physician or other healthcare professional.Biomarkers are very important for people with arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis. They can define the level of the activity of the disease. The first-line imaging technique for diagnosis inflammation in musculo-skeletal organs in Rheumatoid arthritis is planar X-ray examination, which were for many years the first and the only single tool for Rheumatoid arthritis diagnostics and response evaluation
