Track 08: Arthropathy & Myopathy
Arthropathy is a collective term for any disease of the joints. A myriad of arthropathic disorders can afflict the joints, including sacroiliitis which causes inflammation in the sacroiliac joint, Charcot's joints which leads to the degeneration of a joint due to nerve damage, and arthrogryposis which results in joint contractures. The enteropathic arthropathies are a group of rheumatologic conditions that share a link to gastrointestinal pathology. The inflammatory myopathies are a group of diseases that involve chronic muscle inflammation, accompanied by muscle weakness. Another word for chronic inflammation of muscle tissue is myositis. Muscle inflammation may be caused by an allergic reaction, exposure to a toxic substance or medicine, another disease such as cancer or rheumatic conditions, or a virus or other infectious agent, Orthopedic nursing should be done by orthopedic nurse and orthopedic nurse practioners with care in such conditions. The chronic inflammatory myopathies are idiopathic, meaning they have no known cause. They are thought to be autoimmune disorders, in which the body’s white blood cells attack blood vessels, normal muscle fibers, and connective tissue in organs, bones, and joints. Under this track various topics will be discussed which will explore various aspects of these diseases such as Diagnosis of myopathies, Spondylarthropathy, Anti-synthetase syndrome, Reactive arthropathy, Enteropathic arthropathy, Diabetic arthropathy, Crystal arthropathy.

Track 09: Arthroplasty
21st Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology Congress (APLAR) April 8-11, 2019, Brisbane, Australia; Arthroscopy (also called arthroscopic surgery) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and sometimes treatment of damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision. Arthroscopic procedures can be performed to evaluate or treat many orthopedic conditions including torn cartilage, torn surface (articular) cartilage, ACL reconstruction, and trimming damaged cartilage.
Arthroplasty is an orthopedic surgical procedure where the articular surface of a musculoskeletal joint is replaced, remodeled, or realigned by osteotomy or some other procedure. It is an elective procedure that is done to relieve pain and restore function to the joint after damage by arthritis or some other type of trauma.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a type of arthritis in which there is long term inflammation of the joints of the spine. Typically the joints where the spine joins the pelvis are also affected. Occasionally other joints such as the shoulders or hips are involved. Eye and bowel problems may also occur. Back pain is a characteristic symptom of AS, and it often comes and goes.Stiffness of the affected joints generally worsens over time.

Track 15: Orthopedic Physiology, Pathology and Radiology
An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. The technology is similar to that used by sonar and radar, which help the military detect planes and ships. An ultrasound allows your doctor to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues—without needing to make an incision. Medical imaging is the technique and process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention. Medical imaging seeks to reveal internal structures hidden by the skin and bones, as well as to diagnose and treat disease. Medical imaging also establishes a database of normal anatomy and physiology to make it possible to identify abnormalities. Although imaging of removed organs and tissues can be performed for medical reasons, such procedures are usually considered part of pathology instead of medical imaging. In knee surgery also medical imaging plays an important role.

Track 16: Orthopedic Trauma
Orthopedic oncology specializes in the treatment of men and women with bone cancer, sarcoma or cancer that has spread to the bone from other areas of the body. The treatment of metastatic bone cancer is evolving rapidly, advances in treatment have made it possible to treat metastatic disease more like a chronic condition and less like a terminal illness. To determine if a bone or soft tissue tumor is present, physicians often collaborate with the radiologists to administer and interpret imaging tests such as PET scans, CT scans, and MRIs. May also perform a fine needle biopsy, where a small sample of bone or tissue is removed and analyzed to determine if cancer is present. In addition, we may use a test called flow cytometry, which allows orthopedicians to examine the DNA in cells and determine if cancer is present.

Track 19: Transplantation
Hip replacement surgery is a process that the removes the femur and shapes the hip socket, then replaces them with a hip implant cup, ball and stem. Orthopedic surgeons can perform replacement using traditional or minimally invasive procedures. If there are severe complications, hip revision surgeries may be necessary and involve removing the failed hip implant, replacing it with another device and bone grafting if there is damage from the previous implant. The goal of hip replacement surgery is to increase someone’s mobility, decrease pain and improve quality of life by replacing damaged and diseased bone and tissue with an artificial implant.
Reconstruction means performing a surgery to fix problems with structure or function of a body part, or to correct an abnormality or defect. Hip reconstructive surgery is a surgical procedure done to restore your mobility and alleviate hip pain.

Rheumatology in Women
Rheumatology is increasingly the study of immunology and also the study of Rheumatism, arthritis, and other disorders of the joints, muscles, and ligaments. Rheumatology has become certainly one of the most dynamic and innovative subjects in all of medicines. Recent advances in the development of novel therapies for various autoimmune conditions have revolutionized both clinical practices and research in Rheumatology.
Market Analysis and Case study of Rheumatic Diseases
With increasing joint and connective tissue problems caused by hectic lifestyles, non-nutritious food habits, and lack of physical workouts, the demand for rheumatology is on an increase on a global scale. Rheumatology is concerned with the therapy of rheumatic diseases and problems involving joints, soft tissues, autoimmune diseases, heritable connective tissue disorders, and vasculitis. Some of the major rheumatic conditions are neck pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, and bursitis. From 2005 to 2011, the rheumatology therapeutics market has grown at an encouraging rate, but during the period from 2012 to 2018, it is expected to grow at a slow pace. Some of the key drivers of the rheumatology therapeutics market are increasing population with joint problems, the improving technology in the medical field, increased research and development expenditure on healthcare, and the growing willingness of people to stay fit.
The opportunities that the market has are a growing aging population which leads to an increase in the number of joint problems, a rise in the disposable income of individuals, and increased concerns regarding health. The new report predicts the market to climb from a 2011 value of US$17.1 billion to US$23.8 billion by 2018, representing a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4.8% - almost half of the 2005-2011 CAGR of 9.4%.
The rheumatoid arthritis space across the eight major markets of the US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Japan, and Australia is set to grow from $19.5 billion in 2015 to around $28.5 billion by 2025, according to research and consulting firm GlobalData. Global rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis tests market has been estimated to be valued at US$ 485.5 Mn in 2015, and is anticipated to increase to US$ 738.7 Mn by 2022, registering a CAGR of 6.2% during the forecast period. Incidences of RA are increasing among children in Europe and North America. This increased incidence rate calls for adoption of minimally-invasive test methods to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatology Therapeutics Market Growth
The rheumatology therapeutics market is expected to increase at a modest Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 25% during the forecast period, primarily due to the patent expiries of Celebrex (celecoxib) and Uloric (febuxostat) in 2014. While the entry of biosimilars after the patent expiry of key drug Remicade (infliximab) in 2016 could act as a barrier to the growth of the market, the expected launch of tofacitinib in 2013 for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) will have a positive impact on the growth of the Market.
